5. The parties jointly and to their mutual benefit define areas and priorities that, in line with their long-term objectives, must be covered by concrete measures of economic cooperation. Given the importance of long-term strengthening of cooperation between the Community and India, no sector should be excluded from the field of economic cooperation. The parties will work closely together to ensure the compatibility of their consumer protection systems. This cooperation may include the exchange of information on legislative work and institutional reform, the establishment of permanent systems of mutual information on dangerous products, the improvement of consumer information, including on prices, the characteristics of the products and services offered, the development of exchanges between representatives of consumer interests, the improvement of the compatibility of consumer protection policies and the organisation of seminars and training periods. 1. Respect for human rights and democratic principles forms the basis of cooperation between the parties and the provisions of this agreement and is an essential element of the agreement.
